Indignant Hero

20050207-Presidentialche_1.jpgThanks lots to Skunkeye for this link about the firing of Walter Scheib III, the White House Chef.

Apparently, he was already angry about being told that using French recipes and cooking techniques is "unpatriotic"... and being forced to "honor the brand names represented by more than a dozen top GOP and Bush campaign donors" during his inaugural meal.

Alright, the above article is satire, but it is confirmed he's leaving becasue of "stylistic differences with the first lady". She prefers barbequed possum

This guy is my new hero.

I am certainly no fan of President Bush, but this article doesn't pass the sniff test. The causes for Scheib's leaving presented in the article seem too silly to be real.

Glancing at the other articles that "Deanna Swift" has written yields the following headlines:

Next up for Ashcroft: Poet Laureate
Student Suspended Over Evolution Slur
Bush: Banning Gay Marriage Could Cut Deficit in Half

I mean it's OK to have a point of view, but these articles tend to swerve into entertainment/opinion rather than news/opinion.

Don't believe everything you read on the Internet.

Yep, it's a satire site, dzoey, but it is a fact that the chef is leaving/has left because of differences in taste w/ the first lady. Incidentally, allow me to compliment you on your excellent name.

Actually, the scuttlebutt that I hear is that Scheib is being ushered out the door primarily because he's unproductive, disinterested and basically just not doing a very good or thorough job. That doesn't make for nearly so amusing a story, however . . . .

hear hear. facts are uninteresting.
Where'd you hear about that?

You know how those political articles always include quotes attributed to an "unnamed administration official"? Let's just say I heard it from someone who is in a position to know.
