Heroic pizza
And then, like the UN rushing aid to photogenic children, I found Geppetto on 10257 Old Georgetown Road. I’m not saying it’s the best pizza in the city- that post is a toss up between Pizza Mart in Adams Morgan and Pizzeria Parradiso in Dupont. But it is the best pizza that delivers to the suburbs. Pizzas come in Sicilian Style and Neopolitan Style- The Gourmet Combination has grilled chicken, spinach, roasted peppers, artichokes, and grilled eggplant on it, the crust is crunchy and bubbly and wheaty. So many lives saved. Thank you Geppetto. Posted by zaf at March 27, 2005 11:12 PMTrackback PingsTrackBack URL for this entry: Commentspizza mart the best? zaf, I must disagree! Posted by: ljk at March 28, 2005 10:41 AM Ah, disagree away, but I will be victorious. Any minus it gets from taste, it makes up for by being open at 4 am. Which would you suggest? Posted by: zaf at March 28, 2005 11:39 AM Agree completely about Pizza Mart & Paradiso. Those are the two competing platonic ideals of pizza: greasy, horrible and great or delicious and elegant. Most of the stuff in between is boring. Posted by: tom at March 28, 2005 12:01 PM Good lord! That's pathetic. I understand it's hard to find any decent food at 4 in the morning, but you should have higher standards during daylight hours. Ever had Vace's pizza? Two Amy's? Matchbox? Sorriso? There is life beyond Pizza Mart. Posted by: seb at March 28, 2005 12:51 PM sadly, i can only offer unconstructive criticism when it comes to pizza. i think the last pizza i had was actually a face-sized pizza mart slice, a year-and-a-half ago. i do agree that when drunk at 4am, it's tough to beat. though if you're driving home to the 'burbs, Mario's in Arlington is up there in my book as well. Posted by: ljk at March 28, 2005 1:39 PM Or what about Alberto's on P Street? A great compromise of superthin crispy crust, good fresh ingredients and the price a pizza pie should be, unlike the fru-fru places. Posted by: Jeff at March 30, 2005 11:38 AM Alberto's is good, but currently out of the running, due to being close for 3-6 weeks for fire. Plus, while they're good, their pizzas don't have the same 'after drunken' goodness that pizza mart has. Posted by: amg at March 30, 2005 1:33 PM immediate disqualification to ljk for mentioning mario's! You cannot just use your (bad) ragu as tomato sauce on a pizza. Seriously, that stuff is some of the worst pizza I've ever had. Posted by: tom at March 30, 2005 4:52 PM (eek). don't DQ me. i just have really low standards when drunk. you should see some of the guys i meet.... =P Posted by: ljk at March 30, 2005 6:23 PM Post a comment |
