Brisket, Beer, and Blues: Beale Street Style

I just returned from a 4th of July weekend road trip to Memphis. While we did miss some of the places we had considered trying (including Rendezvous, Blues City Café, BB King’s), we did run across an interesting appetizer or two at Silky O’Sullivan’s on Beale Street. We sat at the outdoor patio, drank beer and hurricanes, and watched and listened to blues performers. I had the Beef Brisket Nachos, which had brisket, cheese, BBQ sauce, jalapenos, and nachos. It was tasty.

So how was Memphis? Where did you end up eating?

BBQ Nachos rock. I am pretty sure that Neely's BBQ gets credit for inventing them to serve at the Redbirds stadium... I could be wrong, but I think I am right.

I'd never had bbq nachos before. Memphis was great.

We ate at a bunch of places on Beale Street, most of which had live music (like Silky's and Rumboogie). We didn't have as much BBQ as I would have liked, but we did have a vegetarian with us. We wanted to go to Rendevous, but they had a 1.5 hour wait Saturday evening, and are closed Sundays and Mondays. Oh, we had breakfast at Arcade one day.
